Winter Haircare

Living here in Pennsylvania we all know that winter months are harsh on both our hair and our skin. The combination of cold weather and dry indoor heat can cause hair breakage and split ends.

Here are a few tips to help keep your hair healthy:

1. Shampoo less. Everytime you shampoo your hair you are also cleansing natural oils from your scalp. If you start to see "winter dandruff" skip shampooing one or two days a week to see if it clears up.

You should still brush your hair before showering on those "skipped" days and rinse hair out in the shower and add a conditioner. This will remove sweat and product build-up.

If your scalp isn't flaky you can use dry shampoo on skip shampoo days. Dry shampoo will soak up oil and odor and give your hair a little body.

2. Condition your hair every time you wash it in the winter. Leave in spray conditioner will combat stray, floating strands from static electricity.

3. Weekly deep conditioning treatments. With the cold temperatures outside and the dry heat inside a weekly deep conditioning treatment is a must to replace moisture.

At Great Hair Day I recommend Fresh Start Dry Shampoo and I can choose the perfect hair care products for your hair!
